Spirits not attacking
I've noticed that sometimes some/all of my spirits just refuse to attack any target at all. I used to think that it was due to it being out of range, but it definitely isn't because:
a) I've seen them attack from a longer range before b) I'm able to wand those foes from that distance c) Sometimes the spirits behind or beside them will be attacking, but the others just don't. d) They start attacking after awhile but the foe has not moved yet. This occurs during Glint's Challenge. I'm using 3 Heroes, 3 Henchmen and one AFK player to get double the rewards. |

I have noticed that on some occasions they seem to be targeting a foe that is out of their range and they don't fire until either that foe comes within range or dies - even though there are other targets in range.
Other times I have no idea why they don't attack. Moving them with Summon Spirits helps sometimes. It's possible, of course, that the spirits are under the effects of something like Pacifism. |

Try calling a target and/or wanding a target, that usually wakes them up.
Spirits can't be hexed Quaker, and Pacifism isn't around in Glint's Challenge. |

Not really a ritualist player, but is it possible that spirits are out of energy? I think I remember hearing this before.

Spirits NEVER pay attention when I call targets. They go on and hit whatever they feel like hitting. I was under the impression that you simply couldn't get them to follow called targets.
Wanding doesn't really wake them up. It does wake up my henchmen though. |

A spirit attack is basically just an auto attack. It doesn't require energy to perform. Try using spirit siphon on an attacking spirit, you'll see what I mean.

There are locations that really mess up the spirit attacks I have a feeling many problems happen in Prophesies but that may be my imagination.
When I am in the shiverpeaks lornars pass was one place it happened a lot. They wouldn't attack uphill in quite a few places, I figured it was a combination of Snow the hill and the game being coded before spirits and ritualists were created. Moving them solved the problem but it was a bit hit and miss, they did attack when enemies closed to melee range. Happens a lot on bridges too. |

I have this issue aswell. It's really irritating. I have found that the best way is somewhat to make your spirits without range of enemies, move them close enough to attack and use Painful Bond before enemies reach into your buble.

I recommend Summon Spirits as Quaker mentioned. It resets their target AFAIK. Also try a wand attack. I have sometimes noticed them idling at the edge of range, but if I wand once or twice they attack willingly enough.

I'd love to use Summon Spirits, unfortunately I'm an E/A and the spirits are being controlled by my Heroes. I could swap to an E/Rt, but I think it'll only be harder this way.
Anyway I seem to have found a spot where the Spirits don't bug out and also offers more tactical advantages...so I guess my problem is kind of solved for now. |

Anyway, I don't know if that would work with hero spirits. |

On-topic: Yes ive noticed several times spirits being perfectly able to attack but(some or all)just stand there idle. As mentioned,Painful bonding and or Summon does seem to wake them. Quote:

I want to know why when you get the likes of Giant stomp and similar going off it interrupts my spirits.
They are floating in the air ok they seem bound in place by chains but still you would think that type of knock-down attack would do little. |

yes I have noticed that sometimes the spirits just stand there idle....not sure what they have as a target---and moving them doesnt help...I usually just pop up a new spirit and it will start attacking ...seems to be the only way I have fixed this.

I've had the same problem, and i found a solution by simply summoning them closer to the target i want them to attack, not much closer tho, maybe just take one step closer and then summon them less than a meter. For me that has solved it in most situations.

If the spirits are downhill and have a target that is uphill, but they are too far away for the attack to reach their target, they are doing nothing. Teleporting them nearer to their targets usually work. It's not always the nearest target your spirits want to attack.
The spirits choose a target in longbow range that is attacked by yourself, or that is attacking yourself, or that attacks them. That target may be in longbow range but too far to reach, if it is uphill. |

Btw, I have noticed that, if I'm (not a Rit) in a group with an SoS Rit, or an SoS Hero belonging to someone else, and I "ping" a target, there is a better chance that the spirits will switch to the target I pinged (provided I also attack the target). I have noticed if you place them close to walls edges etc.. they sometimes do nothing especially signet of spirits.
If you have plenty range arround your spirits... the spirits have long bow range but will not attack until targets get closer ~ unless you attack with a range item on them if that makes sense. example duncan if you lay spirits in longbow range they will not attack unless you attack with a longbow or something of range. |
